Large Singhalese Carved Ebony & Bone Caned Settee. Ceylon, circa 1830.


The shaped top rail carved with flowering vines and inlaid bone stringing is above an open backrest with barley twist spindles; the down swept armrests headed by turned finials and inlaid with bone stringing on baluster turned supports, over a large caned seat with conforming carved front and side aprons, raised on elongated toupee form reeded feet supported on brass casters.
